Association Alerts Dealers to Scams

Scammers are actively targeting drivers across the nation with fraudulent texts and emails concerning registration, according to an alert from NIADA.

The motor vehicle departments in Oklahoma and Vermont this week joined agencies in other states in issuing messages about upticks in scam texts and emails claiming vehicle registration will be revoked or suspended.

The states remind people that the agencies will never call or text to ask for payments or financial information. People are urged to delete and report the messages as spam and do not click any links in the suspicious messages.
Dealers are encouraged to remind consumers to be on the lookout for the fraudulent communications.
