Four Teslas Damaged in Suspicious California Dealership Fire

Four Tesla vehicles were damaged early Monday in a fire at a Tesla dealership in Corte Madera, Calif., with fire investigators saying the blaze does not appear to have been accidental.

Firefighters responded to the dealership on Casa Buena Drive shortly after 4:20 a.m. Sept. 7 following reports of vehicles on fire. When crews arrived, they found one Tesla burning in the rear parking lot, with flames spreading to three nearby vehicles, according to Central Marin Fire Battalion Chief Brian Peterson.

Firefighters contained the blaze before it reached the vehicles' main battery packs, preventing the fire from becoming more extensive. At least two Teslas sustained significant damage, with one appearing to have been completely gutted by the fire. No injuries were reported.

The Marin County Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause. Peterson said the circumstances do not appear accidental, but investigators have not confirmed that the vehicles were deliberately set on fire or identified a motive. No arrests have been announced.

The dealership has previously been the site of protests involving Tesla, although investigators have not connected those protests to Monday's fire and have not identified a motive for the incident.
