Mark Reuss, president of General Motors, has been selected to receive the Automotive Hall of Fame’s 2026 Industry Leader Award in OEM, presented by Lear.
The Automotive Hall of Fame announced the honor Sept. 1, recognizing Reuss for his leadership in automotive manufacturing, product development and engineering, as well as his role in guiding General Motors through continued changes across the global auto industry.
Reuss will receive the award Sept. 29 during the Automotive News Global Congress in Detroit. Lear President and CEO Ray Scott will present the award, followed by fireside discussions with Reuss and Scott covering automotive leadership, innovation, industry transformation and the future of the global automotive business.
The Automotive Hall of Fame’s Industry Leader Award has previously recognized executives including former Ford CEO Alan Mulally, former Toyota executive Fujio Cho, former Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche and Carlos Ghosn of the Nissan-Renault Alliance.
“Mark Reuss represents the kind of leadership this award was created to recognize,” said Sarah Cook, president of the Automotive Hall of Fame. She pointed to Reuss’ engineering background and his influence on GM’s products, manufacturing and overall direction.
Reuss said the recognition was a reflection of the people he has worked with throughout his career at GM.
“We win — and have always won — as a team,” Reuss said. “Any success I’ve had in my career is a direct result of the success of the team.”
Scott also praised Reuss’ leadership and focus on product development, calling his contributions to GM and the broader automotive industry significant.
The Sept. 29 event will bring together automotive executives and other industry leaders for discussions on the challenges, opportunities and changes facing the industry.
