Critical Shifts
-
Eliminating Appraisal Guesswork: Black Book will now formally integrate and recognize Shelby modifications in its valuation data, removing the historical ambiguity and guesswork when dealers price, appraise, or trade in these specialized vehicles.
-
Clearer Financing and Lenders' Trust: By standardizing the true market value of professionally upfitted Shelby cars and trucks, the agreement gives lenders the reliable data they need to approve lines of credit and auto loans with confidence.
-
Support for the Growing Upfit Market: The partnership underscores a broader industry trend: the market for professionally modified and upfitted vehicles is growing, requiring mainstream valuation tools to adapt to niche performance segments.
-
Protecting Shelby's Premium & Collectible Value: With Shelby launching a new Indiana manufacturing facility in Q1 2026 (starting with the redesigned F-250 Super Baja), this data integration ensures that the premium performance and collectibility of these trucks and Mustangs are accurately reflected throughout their entire lifecycle.

Black Book, a provider of automotive valuation and analytics, announced a new strategic agreement with Shelby Performance that brings greater transparency and consistency to the valuation of professionally upfitted and modified vehicles, including those carrying the Shelby American badge. Shelby American vehicles are now identifiable within Black Book vehicle valuations, giving dealers, lenders, and industry professionals clearer insight into the value of these specialized vehicles.
Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. and powerhouse truck company Shelby Performance build and distribute a full line of Shelby trucks based on the world-class Ford F-150 and F-250 pickups. Truck manufacturing began in the first quarter of 2026 at a new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to Shelby vehicles in Indiana beginning with the Shelby F-250 Super Baja, the first in a new line of redesigned high performance trucks. Shelby cars based on the Ford Mustang are also available through the dealer network.
Through this relationship, Black Book will recognize and account for Shelby modifications in its valuation data, similar to how other professionally upfitted vehicles are represented. This will ensure the enhancements are reflected accurately in the marketplace.
“As the market for modified and upfitted vehicles continues to grow, dealers need reliable data they can trust,” said Jim Jabaay, vice president of licensing sales at Black Book. “By integrating Shelby cars and trucks into Black Book valuations, we are giving dealers greater confidence when pricing, appraising, and transacting these vehicles, while helping lenders and buyers better understand their true market value.”
The agreement supports Shelby Performance’s goal of providing dealers with clear, credible valuation support for its performance packages, reducing ambiguity at the point of sale and throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
“Shelby American cars and trucks are amazing vehicles, offering enthusiasts a rare combination of performance and collectability,” said Jeff Burttschell, president of Shelby Performance. “This relationship with Black Book helps ensure that our dealers have the data and transparency they need to stand behind the value of Shelby Performance vehicles in today’s market.”
