A 1991 Honda NSX regularly driven by three-time Formula 1 champion Ayrton Senna will be offered at RM Sotheby’s The London Auction on Oct. 31.
The Formula Red NSX, chassis T000233, is estimated to sell for £500,000–£800,000. Honda Portugal originally allocated the car to Senna for his personal use in Europe.
Senna drove the NSX during the 1991 F1 season, including to the Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril, where he qualified third and finished second. The car also appeared in the 1992 documentary Ayrton Senna: Racing Is in My Blood, including footage of Senna driving and washing the car.
“Senna’s legacy runs far deeper than his three world championships. His style and elegance are everlasting,” said Sholto Gilbertson, director of sales, UK, at RM Sotheby’s. “When you think of Senna – nonchalantly dressed in jeans, white socks and brown loafers behind the wheel of a road car – you think of an NSX.”
The NSX changed hands several times following Senna’s death, eventually making its way to the United Kingdom in 2013, where it was registered for road use in 2016. It later returned to Japan and was acquired by its current owner in 2024.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to own a genuine piece of sporting and cultural history,” Gilbertson said.
The car comes with Portuguese ownership records, its warranty book and documentation from Honda confirming its connection to Senna.
