Automaker Celebrates Volunteer Week

In celebration of National Volunteer Week and Earth Day, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) partnered with Atlanta United’s former goalkeeper, Brad Guzan to transform a teacher courtyard and student garden at Atlanta’s Southwest DeKalb High School. The company also recognized 10 Mercedes-Benz dealerships across the U.S. with its inaugural Philanthropic Leadership Award, celebrating the meaningful impact dealerships are making in their local communities.

Both efforts underscore MBUSA’s national corporate social responsibility mission, “Driving Your Future,” which supports programming and resources necessary to foster development and empower young people for future successes.

“National Volunteer Week represents an important moment for Mercedes-Benz USA to demonstrate our commitment to advancing social change through volunteerism and awareness, and it is just one part of a much broader, year-round effort,” Adam Chamberlain, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, said.

“Our teams and fantastic dealer partners are deeply committed to strengthening the communities where we live and work, and through Driving Your Future we support educational programs that help empower and shape a more promising future for the next generation.”

The Southwest DeKalb High School revitalization event was part of MBUSA’s fifth annual National Volunteer Week initiative, creating a welcoming outdoor environment for both teachers and students. During the project, more than 75 MBUSA volunteers joined Guzan to bring the space to life through activities such as gardening, painting murals and assembling outdoor furniture.

“It’s always rewarding to give back to a place that supports and helps shape future generations,” Brad Guzan, Former Atlanta United Goalkeeper and Mercedes-Benz USA Brand Ambassador. “Providing support for Southwest DeKalb High School’s outdoor space on Earth Day was the perfect opportunity to create a space where students and educators can go beyond the classroom. I am truly honored to partner with Mercedes-Benz USA to give back to the Atlanta community.”
