CardinaleWay Hyundai & Genesis of Mountain View has become the first dealership to integrate Meta AI glasses into its digital multi-point inspection (MPI) process, giving dealers a look at how wearable technology could change the way vehicle inspections are documented and shared with customers.

The Mountain View, California, dealership is using Meta AI glasses through UpdatePromise's Symphony platform. The integration allows technicians to document inspections using hands-free, voice-enabled interactions while capturing photos and video that are incorporated directly into the digital MPI workflow.

For independent dealers, the technology is particularly relevant to the growing importance of documenting a vehicle's condition. A technician can keep both hands available while inspecting a vehicle rather than stopping to pick up a phone or other device to photograph individual findings.

Once the inspection is completed, the documentation can be shared digitally with the customer. Through the Symphony platform, customers can review inspection findings, approve recommended repairs, communicate with their service advisor and complete other parts of the service process digitally.

The system was built using Meta's Wearables Device Access SDK Toolkit and is designed to work within an established digital inspection workflow rather than requiring technicians to adopt an entirely separate process.

Joe Hansen, Fixed Operations Director at Hyundai & Genesis of Mountain View, said the dealership was looking for ways to improve both the technician and customer experience.

"By integrating Meta AI glasses into our digital inspection workflow through UpdatePromise, we're able to further enhance how vehicle inspections are documented and shared with our customers," Hansen said.

While the implementation is currently at a franchised dealership, the underlying concept could have applications for independent dealers as well. Digital inspection photos and videos are already used extensively to document vehicle condition, support repair recommendations and communicate with customers. Hands-free wearable technology adds another potential way to capture that information without interrupting the inspection itself.

Rich Pannazzo, Chief Operating Officer at UpdatePromise, said the goal is to integrate emerging technology into existing dealership processes rather than require dealerships to completely change their workflows.

The Mountain View implementation provides an early example of how AI-enabled wearable devices could move beyond consumer applications and into routine dealership operations, particularly in service departments where documentation, efficiency and customer communication are closely connected.
