RockED Partners with DEKRA for Equipment Safety Training

RockED has partnered with DEKRA to make automotive lift and equipment safety training available to automotive schools and dealerships across the United States.

The program is designed to help current and future technicians develop the skills needed to safely operate the various types of vehicle lifts used in service centers.

The training will be offered at accredited automotive schools and dealerships that subscribe to RockED’s platform, providing industry-recognized lift safety instruction and foundational knowledge of vehicle lifts and other common shop equipment technicians may encounter in their careers.

The program addresses a common challenge in automotive service environments. Vehicle lifts and other shop equipment are used daily but lift safety training is not always consistent across schools and shops.

“Lift safety becomes real when technicians understand not just what to do, but why it matters,” said Michael “Buck” Gasner, business manager, inspections, DEKRA North America. “Clear, consistent training helps technicians build safe habits they can carry into every service environment.”

Many entry-level technicians enter the workforce to begin working around lifts without prior exposure to all lift types or a clear understanding of proper safety procedures. This gap can create safety risks and uncertainty, particularly for technicians who are still developing their skills.

Through the partnership, RockED and DEKRA aim to strengthen lift and equipment safety education by introducing structured training earlier in a technician’s development.

The training helps technicians build awareness and safe operating habits before entering professional service environments, where a lack of preparation can contribute to safety concerns and early career turnover.

“Safety training should start before technicians ever enter a service bay,” said Matthias Stoever, CEO at RockED. “This partnership helps schools and dealerships introduce lift and equipment safety concepts early, giving technicians a stronger foundation as they begin their careers.”

The program also includes a certification component designed to confirm a technician’s understanding of lift safety fundamentals. Upon completion, participants receive recognition that they have demonstrated knowledge of proper lift and equipment operation and general shop safety awareness in automotive service environments.
