BRP Launches Branded Financing Program For Used Powersports Vehicles

Critical Shifts:

  • Turnkey Captive Lending Access: Fintech solutions like "Captive-as-a-Service" allow OEMs and dealer groups to establish customized, branded financing arms without building dedicated lending infrastructure or acquiring banking charters from scratch.

  • Lifecycle Customer Engagement: OEM-branded credit programs are shifting from transactional point-of-sale tools into long-term marketing channels that capture repeat vehicle sales, drive service department loyalty, and track customer lifecycles.

  • Mainstream Integration of Pre-Owned Stock: Manufacturers are expanding branded financing options to include used inventory, allowing pre-owned operations to capture higher approval rates and retain customers under the primary brand umbrella.

BRP is expanding its financing options for powersports dealers with the launch of BRP Financial Services, a branded financing program developed with Octane.

The program builds on a 10-year relationship between BRP and Octane and will provide financing for both new and used powersports vehicles under the BRP Financial Services name.

Octane will administer the program through its Captive-as-a-Service platform. Its in-house lender, Roadrunner Financial, will provide the financing, while Roadrunner Account Services will handle loan servicing.

For dealers, the program is designed to make financing part of the broader BRP customer experience, from the initial vehicle purchase through repeat purchases.

Financing Built Around the Dealer's Brand

Octane's Captive-as-a-Service platform combines technology, underwriting, loan processing, servicing, compliance and capital markets execution in one system.

The company says the model allows an OEM or other partner to create a customized financing operation without building a traditional captive lender from the ground up.

Octane will also provide sales and marketing support for BRP Financial Services, with the goal of creating a consistent branded experience throughout the financing process.

The program includes financing terms and promotional opportunities intended to support customer acquisition and retention.

What It Means for Used Dealers

The inclusion of used vehicles is particularly relevant for powersports dealers with pre-owned inventory.

A branded financing option gives dealers another financing channel when presenting used motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, personal watercraft and other powersports products. It also gives BRP an opportunity to remain involved with customers beyond the original sale, including future vehicle purchases.

Octane said the program is designed to help partners generate additional retail sales, build customer loyalty and create lifecycle marketing opportunities while providing customers with flexible financing options.

For dealers, the bigger takeaway is the growing use of OEM-branded financing programs that extend beyond new inventory. As manufacturers look for ways to retain customers throughout the ownership cycle, financing is increasingly being positioned as part of the overall retail relationship rather than simply a transaction at the time of sale.
