Tesla is recalling 20,349 vehicles after federal regulators determined that the low-beam headlights on certain models may produce excessive light output.
The recall covers certain 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles. The headlights may exceed the maximum light output allowed under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, covering lamps and reflective equipment.
Tesla has not yet finalized a remedy for the affected vehicles. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 15.
The recall is listed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration under NHTSA Campaign No. 26V507000. Tesla's internal recall reference is SB-24-17-003.
