East Coast Association Holds Annual Meeting

The Southern New England Independent Auto Dealers Association is holding its annual meeting today with a focus on a Massachusetts lemon law that would raise the mileage of affected vehicles to 175,000 miles.

“This is kind of a serious matter,” said Lou Tedeschi, a dealer in Dedham, Mass., and a member of the Massachusetts Independent Auto Dealers Association. “The bill recently passed the state Senate so that means the bill is moving. We don’t have any issue with a lemon law, but the mileage should be about 150,000. It will drive the prices up and dealers won’t be able to compete. We just want a level playing field.”

Tedeschi added that the association is also hoping to up its membership.

“We’ve got almost 4,000 dealers in Massachusetts. We have 200 members,” he said.

The annual meeting will begin with education workshops and a trade show at 3 p.m. March 5 at the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood Conference Center, 1125 Boston Providence Turnpike, Norwood, Mass. Dinner is at 7 p.m. featuring a $10,000 collaborative education raffle. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

The SNEIADA serves dealers in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
