Auction Group Acquires Iowa Sale

America’s Auto Auction announced the acquisition of Plaza Auto Auction in Mount Vernon, establishing its presence in Iowa and extending its national footprint to 24 states amid ongoing westward expansion.

The auction will now operate as America’s Auto Auction Iowa, opening a new chapter for a dealer-only auction with more than 62 years of experience serving customers.

Founded in 1963 by Bob and Norma Edleman, Plaza Auto Auction has built a strong reputation for service and remains one of the last evening dealer-only sales in the Midwest. The auction hosts over 130 vehicles every Wednesday at 6:15 PM across three action-packed lanes, attracting dealers from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Indiana and nationwide through online bidding.

“After 62 years of serving dealers and commercial consignors throughout the Midwest, I am proud to announce the sale of Plaza Auto Auction to America’s Auto Auction,” said Sean McNeal, owner of Plaza Auto Auction.

“First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our customers and employees. Your dedication, loyalty, and hard work have been the foundation of Plaza’s success and the driving force behind what the company has become today.

“This transaction positions the auction for continued growth and long-term success under new ownership. I am confident that America’s Auto Auction is the right organization to build upon our strong legacy and elevate the business to new heights. I look forward to watching Plaza thrive in this next chapter.”

Plaza Auto Auction has been a member of the National Auto Auction Association for more than 50 years and is widely recognized throughout the Midwest for its award-winning service and strong vehicle selection.

“This acquisition represents an exciting milestone for America’s Auto Auction as we establish our presence in Iowa,” said Chuck Tapp, CEO of America’s Auto Auction. “Plaza Auto Auction has built an incredible legacy over more than six decades, and we are honored to carry that tradition forward as part of the America’s Auto Auction family. We will continue investing in the people, technology, and service that dealers rely on every week.”

With deep roots in the Midwest and a shared commitment to relationships and service, America’s Auto Auction Iowa represents the union of legacy and innovation. Together, the teams look forward to serving dealers across the region while continuing to build on a 62-year tradition of excellence.
