Geaux Automotive Expands With Four Baton Rouge-Area Dealership Operations

Critical Shifts:

  • Footprint & Workforce Expansion: Geaux Automotive Group acquired four former Hudson Automotive operations in Baton Rouge (Volvo, Ford, CDJR, and a pre-owned center), adding 111 employees to reach 340 total workforce.

  • Regional Network Growth: The acquisition increases Geaux's overall dealership count to 12 across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, supporting a strategy focused on tighter regional growth.

  • Market Consolidation: The deal reflects rapid ownership shifts in the Baton Rouge auto market, as these former All Star Automotive stores passed to Hudson Automotive in 2025 before being resold to Geaux

BATON ROUGE, La. — Geaux Automotive Group has expanded its Louisiana footprint with the acquisition of four former Hudson Automotive operations in the Baton Rouge area, adding 111 employees and bringing the dealership group's total workforce to 340.

The transaction closed Sept. 2, according to Geaux Automotive CEO Lee Carney. The acquired operations include a Volvo dealership and pre-owned Super Center at Coursey Boulevard and Airline Highway in Baton Rouge, along with Ford and Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram dealerships in Denham Springs. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The acquisition also adds a dedicated used-vehicle operation to Geaux Automotive's Baton Rouge footprint. The former pre-owned Super Center at Coursey Boulevard and Airline Highway is now operating as Geaux Pre-Owned Super Center Baton Rouge, offering a mix of used vehicles across multiple brands, including late-model SUVs, trucks and luxury vehicles.

Industry coverage has described the transaction as the acquisition of three franchised dealerships — Ford, Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram and Volvo — with the Baton Rouge used-vehicle operation included in the deal.

The acquisition increases Geaux Automotive's dealership count to 12 across Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. The group now has seven dealerships in Louisiana, three in Mississippi and two in Tennessee, according to local reporting.

For Carney, the acquisition has a personal connection. Before launching Geaux Automotive in December 2020, he spent 17 years with Matt McKay's All Star Automotive Group and managed some of the dealerships that eventually became part of the Hudson portfolio.

“Those stores are like home to me,” Carney told the Baton Rouge Business Report.

The properties changed hands after Hudson Automotive acquired All Star Automotive Group in 2025. That transaction brought 11 dealerships into Hudson's Southeast network. Hudson subsequently sold the four operations acquired by Geaux.

Geaux said it intends to continue growing, although Carney indicated the group is looking for expansion with a tighter geographic focus. The company currently operates across Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee and has identified additional growth opportunities in the region.

The deal represents another ownership change within the Baton Rouge market, where dealerships that were part of the long-established All Star Automotive network have moved through multiple ownership groups in a relatively short period.
