LaFontaine Automotive Group is partnering with UVeye to deploy AI-powered vehicle inspection technology across its more than 40 Michigan locations.

The rollout will create what the companies describe as the first cross-state network offering complimentary drive-through vehicle health scans.

The UVeye systems use computer vision and deep learning to inspect a vehicle’s tires, undercarriage and exterior in seconds. The system captures images during the inspection, allowing drivers to see potential issues and areas that may require attention.

“This is about creating a new standard for vehicle safety, transparency and trust across our statewide network,” LaFontaine CEO Ryan LaFontaine said. “By making this technology complimentary and accessible throughout our 40-plus Michigan locations, we’re giving drivers greater insight into the health of their vehicles.”

The first inspection lane was unveiled Sept. 14 at LaFontaine Buick GMC Highland with a demonstration of the technology and a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring LaFontaine and UVeye CEO and co-founder Amir Hever.

Michigan drivers can receive a complimentary UVeye scan and consultation at participating LaFontaine dealerships, regardless of the vehicle’s make or where it was purchased.

UVeye says its systems are designed to provide a standardized, image-based assessment of vehicle condition. The company has deployed more than 1,000 systems globally across dealerships, fleets, auctions, rental operations and OEM logistics facilities and says its technology scans more than 3 million vehicles each month.

“This is much bigger than just deploying groundbreaking technology; it’s about changing how people think about and monitor their car’s health and safety,” Hever said.
