Hertz Car Sales has introduced a new 3-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty on eligible used vehicles at no additional charge.
The warranty covers specified components of the engine, transmission or transaxle, and drive axle. A $100 deductible applies per covered repair visit. Eligible vehicles are generally five model years old or newer with fewer than 75,000 miles at the time of sale.
Hertz said research it commissioned found that 79% of vehicle buyers consider maintenance costs an important factor when purchasing a vehicle, highlighting the growing concern over the cost of keeping a vehicle on the road after purchase.
The new coverage is being offered alongside Hertz Car Sales' inventory of primarily newer, single-owner used vehicles. Some vehicles may also retain portions of their original manufacturer's warranty.
“Consumers are keeping vehicles longer and placing greater importance on reliability, protection and long-term value,” said Jeff Adams, executive vice president of Hertz Car Sales.
