AutoIMS has made a $5,000 charitable donation to Fred Hutch Cancer Center in honor of outgoing National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) President Eddie Lafferty and his year of service leading the association. The donation recognizes Lafferty’s dedication to NAAA, the wholesale auto auction industry, and a cause that is deeply meaningful to him and his family.
The contribution was made to the Kyle Thomas Spane Endowed Chair, an endowment established in memory of Kyle Spane, who passed away from colon cancer at the age of 35. The endowment honors Spane’s determination to help others and advance cancer research even after learning his illness was terminal. It supports groundbreaking research at Fred Hutch Cancer Center and carries forward Spane’s commitment to making a difference for future generations.
In 2020, AutoIMS CEO Venkat Krishnamoorthy started the tradition of making a contribution to charity on behalf of the outgoing NAAA president to promote the auction community’s giving spirit and to recognize the hard work and dedication of the outgoing NAAA president. With the program now in its seventh year, AutoIMS in recent years has donated to charities such as Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Interval House for Domestic Violence, and Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE).
“Eddie’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to our industry have earned the respect of so many throughout the remarketing community,” said Venkat Krishnamoorthy, CEO and President of AutoIMS. “When Eddie shared the story behind the Kyle Thomas Spane Endowed Chair, it was clear that this was a cause that held deep personal meaning for him and his family. We are honored to recognize his service to NAAA with a contribution that supports such important and impactful work. We sincerely thank Eddie for his years of leadership and are proud to support a cause that is helping advance cancer research and create hope for future generations.”
“On behalf of NAAA, I would like to thank AutoIMS and Venkat for this incredibly thoughtful gesture,” said Eddie Lafferty. “My wife and I are passionate supporters of the Kyle Thomas Spane Endowed Chair and the important work being done at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. This donation honors Kyle’s legacy while supporting continued research that provides hope to patients and families affected by cancer.”
The donation will help further the mission of Fred Hutch Cancer Center and continue the work of the Kyle Thomas Spane Endowed Chair in advancing research and treatment efforts for cancer patients and their families.
