Critical Shifts:
-
Tying online reviews directly to repair orders and vehicle sales transforms customer feedback into measurable operational data rather than vanity star ratings.
-

Widewail on Sept. 8 launched Customer Clarity, a new customer intelligence capability designed to help automotive dealerships turn customer reviews into operational insights.
The platform connects customer reviews with Dealer Management System (DMS) data, tying feedback to the repair order or vehicle sale behind it and, where available, the employees involved. It analyzes customer sentiment and benchmarks it against nearby same-brand dealerships and the broader U.S. automotive industry.
Customer Clarity provides management with a weekly report and market comparison, identifying what customers are saying and which issues the dealership should prioritize.
“Dealers have been told for years that the goal was more reviews and a higher star rating. That was never the whole story,” said Cuyler Owens, CEO of Widewail. “The reviews your customers leave are the most honest record you have of what is working and what is broken. Reputation tools can tell you what your customers said. Customer Clarity tells you what it means, and how to use it to run the store.”
“Every operator knows the feeling of being too close to their own store to see its problems,” said Melissa Terrell, chief operating officer at Widewail. “Your customers see them clearly, and they are telling you every day. We built Customer Clarity to read all of that at once and hand a manager the one thing to fix first.”
The tool is designed for franchise dealerships, multi-rooftop dealer groups and OEMs.
